Obviously I would kill to have the rest of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series but I don't want this post to be all about my GOT addiction. 1. War and Peace- LeoTolstoy (Pevear and Volokhonsky Translation) 2. Anna Karenina- LeoTolstoy (Pevear and Volokhonsky Translation) 3. Letters to a Young Poet- Rainer Rilke (Mitchell translation) 4. Perks of Being a Wallflower- Stephen Chbosky I heard that the 2nd batch of letters made it to the Philippines! The 1st batch has not yet arrived. Expect them at the end of the month I guess. Disclaimer: I was taking painkillers and was a bit groggy the time I wrote the letters so I'm not sure if anything I said made sense. Have you ever felt like you weren't blessed with a talent? I haven't been getting much sleep lately because of my current stressors in life. 1. My application and 2. I don't want to be a nurse anymore. Been feeling useless these days because I can't seem to find what I'm good at. I wanna find my calling.. My niche.. I've been thinking too much.. I gotta keep my mind off things. Gotta get some sleep... Add Comment Apology Post 11/08/2011
Okay, I know I haven't been blogging for the past few days (As if it matters to you) But here's a video to show you how sincerely sorry I am. My auntie wanted to stuff a huge box (Balikbayan Box) full of goodies for her family and ship it to the Philippines. I brought her to the 99 cents store and we were looking at the perfume section. I mean... In my defense she introduced it as something "special" something that she's been looking for! And I didn't wanna crush her by saying that it smelled like sweet vomit? What kind of niece would I be? Hahaha! I know this video sucks. Sorry.. but I've been pretending to be a walrus for days now and I'm getting pretty good at it. My short lived purple hair 11/04/2011
I dyed my hair purple today. It didn't stay purple though hahah! After it dried it turned into a auburn-ish black/brown color. Missing items and Divorce 11/01/2011
I was on my way to the post office when I realized that my house keys were missing. I turned my room upside down searching for them. On a positive note, I found something else! My necklace that has been missing for nearly two months. This necklace is very important to me because it was given by my mom and the charms have sentimental value. The heart shaped rose quartz crystal was originally attached to my tiger's eye bracelet. My aunt was actually the one that introduced me to the world of crystals. Rose quarts is usually referred to as the Love Stone. It opens our heart chakras to different forms of love. It is a very soothing stone which helps us stay stress free. Rose quartz nurtures self-love which makes us happy! The jade pendant with the dolphin is my boyfriend's mom and was given to me for Christmas. It was one of the sweetest gestures that anybody has ever done for me. Jade is commonly used for protection but it is also said to attract luck, wealth and love. It also said that it promotes a clear mind and happy dreams. This is a picture that I'm sure most of you didn't expect to be posted. Kim Kardashian and her husband (L.A. Lakers guy) after 72 days of marriage decided to end it. I am not married myself and may be I haven't fully grasped how married life is but what I do understand is that marriage is not easy. What annoys me is that some people treat it like something that can be broken or ended once it starts becoming difficult. I hate people that get married because they simply think it's a funny thing to do when they get drunk. You say vows for a reason. It isn't just for show. You're promising yourself to the person you chose to spend the rest of your life with. It's a shame that some couples take this right for granted while there are millions of other couples in the world that are fighting for equality. They don't get to marry the person that they love like we do. They don't get to call their partner their husband or wife. It's very unfortunate that some people treat marriage lightly while other couples don't get the same opportunities. Hopefully, my keys would magically re-appear by tomorrow so that I can mail the second batch of letters. An overdue picture of our refrigerator for my wonderful friends. Sorry I took so long ahaha! Boo! 10/30/2011
Happy Halloween!!! So tomorrow is Halloween and for the whole month we've been seeing horror movie trailers, hearing ghost stories etc. Why do we love to scare ourselves so much? You come home from the movies after watching a horror flick and all of a sudden you're in a some sort of paranormal situation. You run up the stairs faster than usual because it feels like something is chasing after you. Washing your face became a challenging task because bloody mary might appear in the mirror the moment you open your eyes. And right before bed we all have this never ending debate whether to leave the lamp light on or off. But what bothers me is... What happens next? We see the ghost.. then what? I imagined it would go like this... My mom bought me two books the other day: 1. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Finished this one today. The author included authentic, vintage found photographs. They were borrowed from people who collect pictures like the ones found in the book. The pictures made reading the story feel sort of real and added a fun touch to whole reading experience. 2. Eragon (Currently Reading- I heard the movie sucked though. Haha!) Can you guess what I'm going to dress as on Halloween? Clue: Check out the glasses Psstt.. Cheer up you :) I'm such a dork 10/26/2011
Things haven't been going my way for this week but i'm trying to just keep my chin up and go with the flow. My wisdom tooth has been torturing me for the past three days now and I have been completely dependent on painkillers to get through the day. So, I can't really think straight right now and I don't know how long I will have to endure this. On the bright side, I currently have the second batch cards. The bad news is I don't know if anything I said made sense because I'm still on the painkillers. I finally found the time to finish A Storm of Swords the other day and all I can say is wow. It's intense and the story is so huge. George R.R. Martin detailed everything from the lavish clothes his characters wear to the cracks on the bricks of his towering castles. It's so amazing to read. I absolutely can not wait for the next book. A feast of crows. Oh! George Martin please don't kill my favorite characters. Doesn't he look like Santa? You can not believe how much spoilers the HBO series season two trailer has! It gives so much away. Thank you to the sweetest guy in the world for buying me a copy of the 4th song of ice and fire book. Sorry for geeking out about Game of Thrones. What other books do you, my non-existent reader, recommend? My lovely friend Lesley told me to try "Perks of Being a Wallflower" but I can't seem to find a copy. Okay then, There's a piece of chicken downstairs with my name on it. Sheepydoo 10/23/2011
There is not a day that goes by without the thought of you. I wish you were here and I miss you more than ever. Foolish kid 10/23/2011
When we were young we have always been told that we can do anything that we want as long as we set our mind to it. What happened? Remember when we were kids and we would jump off things and believed that we could fly. Where did that kid go? Is it the constant hit of reality that we face everyday that diminished our capabilities of dreaming big? Is it the lack of commitment or is it simply because we are afraid to be great? Yes, some still hope to become this or that but we never really follow through, right? I realized this when I was reading requirements for a job application. It's something that I believe I want to do and yet I still didn't apply. Why? Because I got intimidated by the requirements they were asking for. I began beating myself down instead of encouraging myself to at least try. What happened to the courage we used to have? When did it disappear and how? Did reality hit us too hard that we started aiming lower? Why does it seem silly to dream so big? I want to contribute. I choose to be great. I'm not sure that I could change the world.. But I'm certain that I'm foolish enough to try. We have to accept that we are capable. Saying it is not the same as doing it so.. Once my other responsibilities are settled I am going to apply for that job. I owe it to the inner brave kid in me that's itching for adventure. Don't be afraid to jump and fly. Okay then, hot shower time. Whenever you feel Bleh. Choose to feel Yey! 10/22/2011
I was an emotional wreck yesterday. Adele and slow soft songs over and over throughout the day. I even did the obligatory shower cry. HAHA! I guess its human to feel worried now and again but control freaks like us must sometimes realize that if it's out of our hands... It's out of our hands. The best thing we can do is to sit back and let things happen. Breathe. Today, was a day filled with simple joys. Felt the wind against my hand while driving. I saw a dad in his boy scout uniform with his two boys. Sank my teeth into a sinful burger and cooked a healthy hearty dinner. You are offered everything in life. Some are just easier to get than others. Be kind to yourself and always choose to be happy. Okay then, I have a date with this tonight: Are you jealous my non-existent readers? HAHA! Things that I wish would fit in my luggage 10/20/2011
My room! I love how messy it is and how you can sit anywhere and still feel comfortable. Eye Spy: Dreamcatcher, fish bowl, straw hat and comfy bunny slippers! The collage of bill boards by the Guadalupe bridge. If you've driven past this place at night you have probably cursed the TV-like-bill board-thing at the bottom left for partially blinding you. I actually have warm memories towards this chaos of advertisements because I usually see this whenever my boyfriend and I walk to the MRT station when we had hospital duties at the manila area. Bonifacio High Street. I know what you're thinking. "Poor little rich girl misses her high-end fancy shmancy stores" but honestly, I miss this place because of it's ambiance. This is where my friends and I just sit, enjoy each other's company and take in the happy vibes this place gives off. FULLY BOOKED. I remember just walking around and promising to myself that someday my home will look something like this bookstore. HAHA! I adore this place. BOOKSALE! If you haven't been in any of the booksale stores please do yourself a favor and have a look. It's not only easier on the wallet compared to the more popular bookstores but it's also fun to browse around in. You never know what you'll find here. It's very much like digging around for treasure. Here is the link to their website. Look for a branch near you and go! http://booksale.com.ph/ National Bookstore or "National" with it's famous red plastic bag has been a vital part of the everyday Filipino student's life. I don't know how many times I've been mistaken as a national bookstore sales lady. May be people think that only national bookstore sales people wear I.D's around their necks? From school supplies to sphere Styrofoam balls you will find almost everything in this store. The elevated U-turn of C5 road, the fly over on the way to the Libis area and the infamous EDSA. I spend at least 30 minutes to an hour relishing their beauty while I'm stuck in traffic at rush hour. Looking at these pictures takes me back to a time when I bonded with myself and my car on the way home or to school then turning up the volume to listen to my favorite radio shows: Good Times with Mo, The Big Meal and Boy's Night Out of Magic 89.9. Times when I practiced driving like a true Filipino and enhancing my "singit" driving skills. The fort Bus, LRT and MRT. I admit that I'm not a regular passenger of these memorable public transportaion vehicles and that I have only went on them a couple of times. I also know that some people think that they are a hassle to ride but these babies have been kind to me. They have been venues of discomforting pranks that my boyfriend and I used to do. We used to talk loud enough so that people near us could hear (believe me they get packed like sardines) and we pretend to be brother and sister then act as if we were "forbidden lovers". The first batch of letters have been mailed. The man said that It would take 2 weeks or more so people of the first batch be patient. Okay then. I have a bowl of peanuts and a plate of extra large Siomai to munch on. | AuthorHello. Archives |
